Tragedy in Chiswick: Man Charged with Domestic Violence Murder

A Sydney man has been denied bail after allegedly murdering his partner in their Chiswick apartment. The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was found dead at the scene on Saturday night.

Police were called to the unit on Bechert Road around 9.50pm following reports of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman’s body inside the property.

The man, 40-year-old Diogo De Oliveira, was arrested at the scene and charged with domestic violence murder. He appeared in Burwood Local Court on Monday and was refused bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 24, 2024.

The cause of the woman’s death is yet to be determined, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns has expressed his concern over the rising rates of domestic violence and sexual assault in the state. He urged everyone to play a role in combating these issues.

“Those numbers are increasing, not decreasing. So we all need to do more,” he said.
