Apohealth Paracetamol Pain Relief 500mg Tablets May Pose a Safety Risk

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has issued a safety alert for Apohealth Paracetamol Pain Relief 500mg film-coated tablets. The agency has warned that the product was never intended to be sold directly to consumers and lacks child-resistant packaging.

The affected tablets are sold in a bottle with a green and white label. The label clearly states that the product is “For dispensing only. Not for patient supply.”

Despite this warning, the TGA has learned that the product has been sold in some pharmacies and online stores. Consumers who have purchased the product are advised to check for it and, if found, to keep it out of reach of children.

There is a potential risk of accidental overdose if a child is able to access the medicine in the original container.

If you have concerns about the safety of the product, the TGA recommends returning it to the place of purchase.

A separate version of the product, labeled Apohealth Paracetamol Pain Relief 500mg film-coated tablets in blister packaging, was intended for direct supply and is not affected.

If you suspect an overdose or accidental consumption of the medicine by a child, contact the Poisons Information Centre on 131 126 immediately.
